Tire Rotation Tacoma

Tires may produce road wear differently depending on their position on the vehicle. Your vehicle’s suspension as well as your driving style also affect tire wear. Precision Auto is here to help.

Tire rotation is the practice of moving vehicle wheels/tires from one position around the car. By regularly rotating the tires we can evenly distribute the wear. This helps you get the most miles out of your tires. Rotated tires also give you the best traction for all four wheels.

Rotation is done according to your vehicle and tire manufacturers’ recommended rotation pattern. We do this to maintain a balanced safe tire pressure and tire tread depth. Call Precision Auto at 253-759-2044 for rotation questions or to set up an appointment.

Tire Rotation Pattern

“By design, the weight on the front and rear axles differs which causes uneven wear. With the majority of cars being front-engine cars, the front axle typically bears more of the weight. For rear wheel drive vehicles, the weight distribution between front and back approaches 50:50. Front-wheel drive vehicles also have the differential in front, adding to the weight, with a typical weight distribution of no better than 60:40. This means, all else being equal, the front tires wear out at almost twice the rate of the rear wheels, especially when factoring the additional stress that braking puts on the front tires. Thus, tire rotation needs to occur more frequently for front-wheel drive vehicles.

Turning the vehicle will cause uneven tire wear. The outside, front tire is worn disproportionately. Cloverleaf interchanges, and parking ramps turn right in left hand drive (otherwise known as right hand traffic) countries, causing the left front tire to be worn faster than the right front. Furthermore, right turns are tighter than left turns, also causing more tire wear” — Wikipedia

Studded Tire Rotation Tacoma

Studded tires may be used between November 1 and March 31. Precision Auto is happy to seasonally rotate your drive-wheel tires. Also, if you prefer to only use your studded tires for a journey across the passes to eastern Washington, we can accommodate you.

Studded tires have metal pins or “studs” protruding from the treads. Different tread depths produce studs of varied in length. Studs usually consist of tungsten carbide pins. The studs or pins protrude from the tire and cut into road ice providing needed traction. However, these pins also cause extra wear on the pavement, which is why they are only legal during the winter months from November to the end of March each year. Give us a call at 253-759-2044 for any questions about studded tires.

Be sure to think of us for flat tire repair and tire replacement also.
